The tide is turning! PJ’s Pets ends puppy sales
The Canadian Federation of Humane Societies (CFHS) applauds PJ’s Pets for its decision to stop selling puppies in their stores and, instead, promote adoption from humane societies and SPCAs. It’s time to put an end to retailing animals as ‘products’ in stores and the CFHS encourages other pet store chains to follow PJ’s example.
It is very common for pet stores to tell customers that their puppies come from good breeders. But the truth is good, caring breeders would never allow their puppies to be sold this way. Reputable breeders are knowledgeable, caring and ethical. They spend a lot of time talking and meeting with potential puppy buyers to ensure they are a good fit for one of their puppies.
Most puppies in pet stores come from cruel puppy mills and backyard breeders. Tell your friends to adopt or take the time to research and find a caring, reputable breeder.
